The core theme of the National Museum of Ireland is: to safeguard, present, and tell the stories of the art, culture, and natural history of Ireland and its related regions in a comprehensive, inclusive, dynamic, diverse, and secure manner, thereby building a system for the preservation and dissemination of national memory.

To advance its largest public gallery expansion in nearly two decades — the “Changing Ireland Galleries” — the National Museum of Ireland reactivated a historic building space at Collins Barracks that had lain unused for nearly 30 years. Given the vast diversity of the new exhibits and the need to carry out a modern exhibition renovation while preserving the original appearance of the more than 300-year-old historic building, the museum commissioned our company to provide a complete custom display case solution.

Following the completion of our project, the National Museum of Ireland has the following future plans: the museum will continue to advance the comprehensive renovation of the Natural History branch; persistently promote digital co‑creation and inclusive services; and focus on solving the issue of a permanent collection storage facility — the current resource centre in Swords is at full capacity and poses long‑term risks, making the construction of a dedicated professional storage facility a strategic priority for many years to come.

The total gross floor area of the four branches of the National Museum of Ireland is approximately 34,000 square metres. There are four branches in total: the Archaeology branch, the Decorative Arts & History branch, the Natural History branch, and the Country Life branch. The total collection comprises approximately 4 million objects. These collections cover multiple fields including archaeology, decorative arts, natural history, and folk life, making it one of the most extensive national collection systems in Europe.

For animal specimens, we adopted freestanding full‑height floor museum vitrine display cases. The solid wood frame and base design provide robust durability and can support large specimens. Low‑reflection glass offers high light transmittance and UV protection, restoring the true colours of the specimens.

For small, precious artefacts such as porcelain, we adopted freestanding full‑height glass museum vitrine display case. These feature a four‑sided, fully transparent, enclosed design, allowing visitors a 360° view of the exhibits while keeping out dust, mould and harmful gases. The low‑reflection glass minimises glare and highlights the details and texture of the exhibits.

To accommodate the different display needs of various artefacts, we produced over 80 display cases in 14 different types for the museum. These include freestanding full‑height floor display cases, freestanding full‑height glass display cases, large freestanding display cases, and others.

For religious artefacts, we adopted large freestanding museum quality display cabinets. These cases feature a three‑sided fully transparent glass design, allowing visitors a 360° viewing angle. Built‑in temperature and humidity control systems prevent the wood from cracking or deforming due to moisture fluctuations, and prevent painted layers from flaking off.

For textile artefacts, we adopted freestanding full‑height glass museum quality display cabinets. These cases have an enclosed structure of four‑sided fully transparent glass, making it easy for visitors to view the exhibits from multiple angles while blocking harmful gases. The ultra‑clear low‑reflection glass offers high light transmittance and filters out ultraviolet rays.
