Angoulême Museum
Angoulême City, France 2024.6
The Angoulême Museum is a comprehensive museum integrating archaeology, ethnography, and fine arts. Its core theme is dedicated to showcasing “the diversity and evolution of human civilizations.”
The Angoulême Museum is housed in a historic former bishop’s palace. At the outset of the renovation, the project faced a core challenge: how to preserve the charm of the historic building while providing a climate-controlled, highly secure, and visually transparent display environment for exhibits of vastly different scales—from tiny fossils to massive tribal wooden carvings.
After we completed the project, the Angoulême Museum set the following plans for the future: upon project delivery, the museum achieved a transformation from traditional storage-style exhibitions to a narrative-driven modern museum. First, it aims to become an international academic hub. Second, it seeks to achieve digital integration. Finally, it plans to realize community and tourism synergy.
The Angoulême Museum in France has a floor area of approximately 1,700 square meters and features 3 independent exhibition floors. Its collection includes about 2,000 selected artifacts, covering prehistoric archaeology, African and Oceanian art, and fine arts works.
For architectural models, we use table-top independent display cases. The height of the museum glass display case is close to that of the table, and most are square or rectangular in shape. The low-reflection glass offers high light transmission, low reflectivity. The aluminum alloy frame base ensures structural stability and corrosion resistance.
For wooden carved artifacts, we use continuous wall-mounted display cases. These museum glass display cases are installed flush against the wall and feature a long, strip-shaped, continuous design. The low-reflection glass provides high light transmission, low reflectivity. The aluminum alloy frame and case structure are sturdy and corrosion-resistant.
Display case types: To accommodate the display needs of different cultural relics, we produced over 30 museum glass display cases in 5 different models for the museum. These include continuous wall-mounted display cases, table-top independent display cases, central independent tall display cases, and others.
For ethnographic artifacts, we use continuous wall-mounted display cases. These museum display cabinets have a fully enclosed cubic structure, with glass panels facing the audience. The low-reflection glass offers high light transmission and low reflectivity. The aluminum alloy frame and case design ensure sturdiness and corrosion resistance.
For bronze exhibits, we use central independent tall display cases. These museum display cabinets feature fully transparent glass on the front and sides, making them visible from four sides. The low-reflection glass provides high light transmission and low reflectivity. The aluminum alloy base design ensures a stable structure, strong load-bearing capacity, and corrosion resistance.
