Carnavalet Museum
Paris, France 2021.05
As one of Paris’s oldest and world-leading city history museums, the Carnavalet Museum systematically presents the complete historical transformation of Paris, from the prehistoric Lutetia period through the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the French Revolution up to the 21st century. It showcases the city’s social life and culture and arts across these eras.
We were honored to participate in its epoch-making renovation project. For this “treasure trove of Parisian memories,” we provided an end-to-end customized display case system solution. This seamlessly integrates modern preservation technology into the centuries-old historical architecture, assisting the museum in realizing its grand vision of “telling the story of Paris for everyone.”

The museum comprises two historical buildings: the Hôtel Carnavalet and the Hôtel Le Peletier de Saint-Fargeau. The total exhibition area is approximately 3,900 square meters, with a visitor route extending up to 1.5 kilometers across multiple floors. The renovation aimed to break the monotony of traditional chronology by creating a clear temporal narrative axis while enhancing immersion through scenographic reconstructions and digital interactives. The plan also included improving accessibility, introducing digital guides, and establishing temporary exhibition spaces to transform it into a continuously vibrant cultural center.

The central challenge of this renovation was: how to construct, within two protected historical buildings, a display system for over 3,800 artifacts with diverse materials, sizes, and preservation needs—ranging from fragile ancient books and textiles to heavy architectural fragments. This system had to meet the highest protection standards, perfectly integrate into the new narrative logic, and not damage the architectural fabric itself.
For this project, we supplied the museum with a total of 25 display cases, including freestanding cases, wall-mounted cases, and counters. Through this collaboration, we have once again demonstrated our capability to provide complex, systematic, customized solutions for world-class cultural heritage institutions, allowing history to find new life in contemporary spaces.

This custom-designed classical-style freestanding display case features a deep, steady dark frame enclosed by full-height, high-transparency glass. It harmonizes perfectly with the gallery’s opulent classical decor, such as its blue-toned wall treatments and gilded furniture. The case ensures the safety and protection of the artifacts while naturally blending into the gallery’s retro ambiance.
This is a custom-designed tall freestanding display cabinet in a deep hue. With a steady black base and enclosed by full-height, high-transparency anti-glare glass, the tall cabinet form expands vertical display capacity while allowing for the consolidated display of artifacts across diverse categories such as sculpture, garment accessories and documents.
